Carbon fiber composites have taken the method traditionally associated with fiberglass and perfected it to a precise science with outstanding performance as the result. The process of advanced composites controls resin and fiber content to exacting tolerances. Though traditional methods have proven successful in producing a variety of products; advanced composite products can be engineered considerably stronger and assembled with even greater accuracy. K&N’s Advanced Composite Division offers products to really get excited about.

Carbon fiber, as a raw material, has been treated to handle heat from below 0 to 2500 degrees Fahrenheit. In most cases the limiting factor is the matrix or resin system, not the reinforcement material such as carbon fiber, fiberglass or Kevlar. Epoxies are no longer a simple brush on mix of basic compounds. Chemists have spent years maximizing the function of the matrix by blending epoxies with ceramics and a number of other ingredients. It is a precise science where strength, durability, function and temperature all have to be considered. Our products are engineered with specific resin systems for application specific needs. These products must take into consideration such things as: fire retardant resins, ceramic blends to handle high heat and flexible systems for damage tolerance. This same kind of consideration goes into everything K&N makes.
