The Fox Racing Shocks 981-40-400-R is a Factory Race Series 4.0" external bypass piggyback shock absorber built for serious off-road performance. Featuring a 12" stroke and a 4-tube external bypass configuration, this right-side shock delivers the same position-sensitive damping technology found in Fox's Trophy Truck race program — engineered to handle extreme punishment while maintaining precise, consistent control.

At the heart of this shock is a 4.0" impact-extruded and CNC-machined 6061-T6 hard-anodized aluminum body that is lighter than steel and highly resistant to corrosion. The shock shaft is constructed from 17-4 H900 hard chrome-plated stainless steel and finished with Fox's proprietary Cerakote® protective ceramic coating over a zinc-plated basecoat for maximum durability in harsh environments. Internal oil is Fox's JM92 MIL-SPEC fluid, developed specifically for off-road racing applications.
