The Fox Racing Shocks 981-40-400-L is a Factory Race Series 4.0" x 12" External Bypass Piggyback Shock (Left Side) engineered for serious off-road racing and performance off-road builds. Featuring Fox's revitalized externally adjustable, position-sensitive damping architecture, this 4-tube bypass shock delivers race-proven control and durability in the most demanding terrain.

The 4.0" shock body is impact extruded and CNC machined from 6061-T6 hard-anodized aluminum, offering an exceptional strength-to-weight ratio with superior corrosion resistance. The body is finished with Fox's proprietary FOX Grey Cerakote® protective ceramic coating over a zinc-plated basecoat for enhanced durability in harsh environments. The 17-4 H900 hard chrome plated stainless steel shaft is twice as strong as industry-standard high-carbon steel shafts, providing outstanding resistance to bending, rock chips, and corrosion.
